We have seen similar cases before where the old BNS4 wasn't accessible via diagnostics either. It is recommended that you check if the firmware update to SW 0060 has been applied to your BNS yet (I doubt it has).
Further details can be found in Audi TPI 2009616 which refers to the Update CD with the part number 8P0-906-961-K. I believe this will fix your problems.

Aside from that, if you are seeing issues where your BNS4 isn't accessible or doesn't properly display information in the instrument cluster you may want your Audi dealer to look into TPI 2014991 which recommends a software update for the instrument cluster itself to fix this.
